For more than 40 years world-famous naturalist, sculptor, painter and photographer Geoffrey C. Smith has been inspired to create award-winning artwork that depicts the immense diversity of wildlife with striking realism, deep emotion and a sense you are witnessing nature in action.

About A. E. Backus Museum & Gallery

The A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery, an 8,000 sq. ft. public visual arts facility, was established in 1960 by A.E. Backus and a group of local art enthusiasts. Open five days a week from October through mid-June (summer hours by appointment) the Museum features the nation's largest display of original paintings by Albert Ernest Backus (American 1906–1990). The Museum is also home to Florida's only permanent multimedia exhibition on the Florida Highwaymen. In addition to preserving and perpetuating the artistic and humanitarian legacy of Backus, the Museum organizes and hosts changing exhibitions from artists of national and international acclaim. The permanent collection of the Vero Beach Museum of Art is central to the Museum’s mission and features art from the early twentieth century to the present in a broad range of media. The collection includes over 880 works of art and is currently concentrated primarily on American art; however, the Museum is also growing its international holdings in the area of contemporary art.
